The Basics: How Do I Make a Payment and How Do I Save Money

Below are the basics of how to make a payment, how you use CrayPay to complete your purchase with the merchant, and how you save money on everything you buy through CrayPay!

How You Save with CrayPay

CrayPay always uses a digital gift card to pay. Each time you enter a total, it will purchase a gift card for that exact amount so you can give it to the cashier as payment in full. However, that gift card costs you less than its face value. You will see a charge to your payment account from CrayPay for less than the retail total. That is how you save every time with CrayPay.

Using CrayPay at Checkout

When you have a successful payment, the app will give instructions for redemption and will display either a QR Code, Barcode, or a number for redemption. Retailers generally user QR Codes or Barcodes and for Restaurants, you generally write the code on the guest check. In either case, simply tell the staff that you are paying with a digital gift card and they should be able to proceed from there.

Using CrayPay Online

If a participating merchant has a "gift card" field in their checkout page online, you can use CrayPay as normal to create the gift card code. Then copy/paste or type the code into the gift card field on the merchant website and follow their instructions for completing your purchase. If they require a PIN, the CrayPay confirmation screen displays a PIN specific to that egift card code.

How do I bring up a code again, use it later, or see if if the app times out before I use it?

If an e-gift code has been purchased but not used, it can be recovered and added the the Redeemables section of the app. As far as pulling up existing codes, you can do that by navigating to the Menu (3 lines on top left), then Clicking on Cards, then Clicking on the card you used to make the payment. You will see all purchased associated with that credit card. You can click on one to bring up the codes again. If you want to use that one later, you can click "Move to Redeemables", which will save it for a future date. I’ve included a video link that shows the process.

The App Store says CrayPay is not available in my country

Thanks for reaching out. It appears you may be trying to download the app outside the US. Currently, CrayPay is only available in the U.S. We will make announcements as we add additional markets, so stay tuned!

How do I search for merchants that are in a different location

Thanks for reaching out. The default search within the app is based on your current location. You can expand that search, by scrolling to the bottom of the results. The app will continue to increase the search radius until it reaches 100 miles (it will notify you when it does).

You can search for a specific merchant using the Magnifying Glass icon. While in that search interface, you can click "Current Location" and type a new location, like Janesville and select from the resulting locations below. Then you can search above for a merchant by name. I suggest just searching for a few letters (at least 3) of the merchant name. Coming soon, you'll be able to search for "tags" such as restaurant, food, pizza, etc.

Just a quick tip, if a merchant shows nearby you, and they have a location you frequent in Janesville, that location should be participating as well in almost all current merchants in the network. This is because they are national brands with mostly national contracts to participate. This isn't always the case, but just a tip.

I want to use Touch ID instead of PIN for iOS.

You will need to activate Touch ID from the CrayPay app by going to Profile Settings by clicking on your profile information located in the slideout menu. Find Touch ID and toggle it to ON.

How do I delete a payment source?

You can delete a payment source from your wallet by tapping on the menu icon and selecting 'Cards' from the slideout menu. Tap on the card you would like to delete. Once the card is selected, tap on the edit symbol on the top right screen.

Where can I find my transaction details?

Tap on 'Cards' in the slide out menu and select your payment source. Once selected you are able to view all the transactions affiliated with that account.

Do I have to redeem my code right now, or can I use it later?

Codes are intended for immediate use, however, unused codes can be stored and used later. Why do I have to verify my account each time I use a new computer or device?

Using a new device triggers a requirement to verify that you are individual accessing the account. This is a security precaution to prevent the use of your account by unauthorized users.
